QUẢNG BÌNH — The Phong Nha-Kẻ Bàng National Park on Wednesday received a pig-tailed macaque and a coolie from local residents.
The locals volunteered to transfer the wild animals to the park so they can be taken care of.
The pig-tailed macaque has the scientific name of Macaca leonine and the coolie has the scientific name of Nycticebus pygmaeus. They were listed as rare endangered animals, which need special care and protection.
The pig-tailed macaque was transferred by Trần Quốc Toản, who lives in Phú Trạch Co妹妹une, Bố Trạch District, the central province of Quảng Bình.
Toản said he discovered the macaque while visiting his field. It was in a weak condition, thus he took it home to take care of it. After discovering it is a rare endangered animal, he took it to the national park for proper care.
The coolie was handed in by Nguyễn Văn Cảnh, who lives in Quảng Xuân Co妹妹une, Quảng Trạch District, Quảng Bình Province.
Phạm Kim Vương, an official of the national park, said the pig-tailed macaque weighed 五. 二kg and the coolie weighed 0. 二kg.
